  • Scintillating scotoma – Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
    I got one of these today after work… It was scary. I saw the flash, and then it was big, zig zagged, colorful, and I had trouble seeing and especially reading. After about 10-20 minutes, I found I could read again, but I could still see it at the top of my vision. Now, it seems like it's gone.

I’m considering switching vets.   After being told that a dental cleaning would cost $400, and then finding out my friends only pay $250, I’m starting to feel like I’m being ripped off.

Has anyone ever gone to Annandale Animal Hospital?  They are closer to my house than Alexandria Animal Hospital, and they also have evening and Saturday hours so I wouldn’t have to miss work.  So, I’m thinking of switching to them, but I’d like to know what they are like before jumping into them.  

 I guess if no one has ever been there, I’ll take Lemonjello to them when his vaccinations come due in October and see how it goes.

In the meantime, I’ll be attempting to brush Oranjello’s teeth.  When Oranjello was trying to bite the toothbrush and lick the toothpaste off of it, Lemonjello was all interested, so I let him look at the toothbrush, but he shied away.  So I guess it’s good that it’s Oranjello with the bad teeth and not Lemonjello.

The vet wants me to brush Oranjello’s teeth every day because he apparently has a lot of tartar buildup and she was surprised as he is only a year old. She said she recommends him for a cleaning already, but unfortunately, the cleaning she’s talking about is like $400 because they have to anesthetize him. So she wants me to brush his teeth to push back having to go in for that major cleaning. It sucks. Why’s he have to have bad teeth? (Insert mullet-guy joke here.)

Luckily for me, it doesn’t seem like Oranjello hates the toothbrush or the toothpaste. He actually jumped ahead to week three and was like putting the brush in his mouth and licking the dab of toothpaste off of it… so I think it won’t be too traumatic for either of us (crosses fingers)
